Adult and Youth Leader Training Day PDF Print E-mail

Offered By Three Fires District

Where: St. Patrick’s Life Center, Rickett Rd., Brighton

When: Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Adult and youth leader training is an important part of a successful leader. Being trained for your position will give you the tools to be confident in your leadership role and ensure that our charges have a positive experience that will last a lifetime. Registration can be completed on-line at the GSTCBSA.org webpage using Double Knot. Locate the training day on the Three Fires Calendar and click on the training session. Scoutmaster & Asst. Scoutmaster Specific Training for adults (S24):

Time: 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Fee: $20 includes materials (lunch will be provided)
Prerequisite: Fast Start and This is Scouting, which are available online, see related article --  What Courses Do I Need To Take To Be Trained For My Position?

Troop Committee Challenge and Charter Organization Representative Training for adults (S10 D72):

Time: 9:30 AM – 12:30 AM
Fee: $6 includes materials

Den Chief – Training for Boy Scouts (C31)

Time:  Time: 9:30 AM – 12:30 AM
Fee: $5 includes materials

Outdoor Leader Skills (OLS)

OLS is offered by GSTC on April 20-22 at Camp Teetonkah. Registration is through doubleknot on the council calendar at GSTCBSA.org.

What Courses Do I Need To Take To Be Trained For My Position? PDF Print E-mail

ScoutersandScoutsCub Scout Leaders: YPT* and the Cub Scout Leader Specific training* for your position.

Scoutmasters and ASM: YPT*, Fast Start*, This is Scouting*, Scoutmaster and ASM Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills.

Troop Committee Members: YPT* and Troop Committee Challenge*.

Varsity Coaches and Assistant Coaches: YPT*and Varsity Leader Specific Training.

Venturing Crew Advisors, Assistant Advisors and Committee Members: YPT* and Venturing Leader Specific Training.

Charter Organization Representatives: YPT* and Charter Organization Representative Training.

Merit Badge Counselor: YPT* and merit badge counselor training.

All positions: Fast Start* and  This is Scouting* are no longer required, but highly recommended.

*Course is available on-line   
YPT = Youth Protection Training

Online Course Information

To take online courses, except Youth Protection Training (YPT), you will need your BSA registration number from your membership card. If you cannot locate your card call the Council office at 734-971-7100 and they can help you. Once you have your number, go to www.myscouting.org, create your account and take the courses you need.

Youth Protection Training (YPT)

If you are registering as an adult volunteer, you are required to take the Youth Protection Training (YPT). The training is available online at www.myscouting.org. You will need to set up an account on the site, however you will not be required to enter a BSA member ID for the YTP class. YPT must be completed every two years to remain current.

Coin Collecting Merit Badge Opportunity PDF Print E-mail

Wednesday, February 15th, from 6-9pm open. The Huron Valley Numismatic Society will hold it's second annual seminar for working on the Coin Collecting Merit Badge. All information for the badge will be there, as well as a merit badge councilor. You can earn the badge by completing requirements in advance, or start to earn the badge by obtaining necessary information to complete the badge at a later time.
