Wood Badge Beads
When Lord Baden-Powell was looking for some token to award the leaders who went through the first Gilwell training course, he remembered a necklace he had found in a Zulu chieftain's deserted hut when on campaign in South Africa in 1888. He took two of the smaller beads, drilled them through the center, threaded them onto a leather thong and called it the Wood Badge.
