Scholarships

A scholarship fund has been established by the AWW to assist worthy Scouter's in need of financial assistance with the Wood Badge training experience. To be eligible for financial assistance you must be:

  1. Registered and in good standing with the Great Sauk Trail Council for at least 30 days prior to making application.

  2. You must be registered to attend a Wood Badge course with a deposit paid.

  3. You must complete the Financial Needs Statement attached to the application and include it with the application. (This information will be kept strictly confidential.)

  4. Scholarship requests must be received in Ann Arbor office by June 1 of the year attending the Wood Badge course. All applications are reviewed at the same time to determine appropriate distribution of scholarship dollars available.

1st Wood Badge Course
The first course was held in September of 1919. Lord Baden-Powel, the founder of Scouting created the syllabus. He was convinced that leaders need excellent training in order to serve the boys of their troops. This course eventually was called Wood Badge Training.
