Purpose and Program
The first Wood Badge course was presented in England by Baden-Powell in 1919 as a means of strengthening and preserving the Scouting movement in each country throughout the world.

Information:
Wood Badge training has two phases:
The
The Application phase requires completing a “Ticket” (a set of goals written during the course) within 18 months of the end of the course with the assistance of a counselor.
Eligibility Requirements:

Registered member of the BSA
-
Have not previously attended a Wood Badge course
-
Completed Basic Training or New Leader Essentials and Leader Specific for your Scouting position

Outdoor Leadership Skills (SM, SA, VC, VA)

Successful completion of a BSA class 3 medical exam.
Practical portion usually involves two 3-day weekends at camp and a minimum of one in-between weekend meeting (time & date to be set by participants) with all members present. Full attendance at both weekends and the meeting is mandatory.

Some have referred to Wood Badge as a “weekend MBA course”! I can assure you that it will be time very well spent.st Century is intended to provide leadership skills needed in all phases of the Scouting program (i.e., Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing, and Varsity). The course is a comprehensive presentation of leadership skills, organizational tools, and participatory activities based on the best of Scouting traditions and the latest in team development theory.
