Adult Leader Training Day Offered By Huron Trails District

When: September 25, 2010

Where: Latter Day Saints Church, 1385 Green Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105

 

Adult leader training is an important part of being a leader.  Being trained for your position will give you the tools to be confident in your leadership role and ensure that our youth have a positive experience that will last a lifetime.

 

Cub Leader Specific (CLST): This full course needs to be taken once by all Cub leaders: Cubmaster, Tiger Leader, Den Leader (Wolf and Bear), Webelos Leader, all assistant leaders,  Pack Committee and Pack Trainer.

Prerequisite: This is Scouting, which is available online, see below.

Time:  9:00 AM - 3:00 PM         Fee: $20 includes materials   (Bring a sack lunch, 3 ring binder, paper and pen)

 

Trained Cub Leaders who have changed position can attend for position specific training:

Time: 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM for Tiger, Webelos and Pack Committee

Time: 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM for Den Leader (Wolf and Bear), Cubmaster and Pack Trainer.

Fee: None (Bring your Cub Leader Handbook)

 

Scoutmaster & Asst. Scoutmaster Specific (TLST): This course covers the role of the Scoutmaster/ASM.

Prerequisite: This is Scouting, which is available online, see below.

Time: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM          Fee: $20 includes materials  (Bring a sack lunch,  3 ring binder, paper and pen)

 

Troop Committee Challenge (TCC): This course covers the responsibilities of each position on the troop committee and their role in supporting the youth lead program. This course is also available online.

Prerequisite: This is Scouting, which is available online, see below.

Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM         Fee: $10 includes materials

 

Charter Organization Representative (COR): This course details how the COR interacts with the charter organization, scout unit, and BSA council to fulfill the missions of Scouting and the charter organization.

Prerequisite: This is Scouting, which is available online, see below.

Time: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM        Fee: $5 includes materials

 

Youth Protection Training (YPT): This course teaches how to offer a safe program for our youth and adults.  It is also available online, see below.

Time: 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM          Fee: $5 includes materials

Registration via www.gstcbsa.org by September 13th to guarantee your materials

Click on "Calendar" on the top of the page.  Select the Sept. 2010 calendar.  Click on "HT: Training Day" then click on the specific course you want to register for.  Please arrive 15 minutes before your course to sign in.

ONLINE COURSE INFORMATION

To take online courses you will need your BSA registration number from your membership card.  If you cannot locate your card call the Council office at 734-971-7100 and they can help you.  Once you have your number, go to www.gstcbsa.org and click on the "online training" icon in the right margin.  This will take you to the BSA Learning Center.  Click on the course you need and then sign in or create a new account.  Be patient with the registration process, it may take a few tries.  Please allow 15 min. to create a new account and 45 min. to take a course.

 

What Courses Do I Need To Take To Be Trained For My Position?

Cub Scout Leaders: This is Scouting, the Cub Scout Leader Specific training for your position and Youth Protection Training (YPT).

Scoutmasters and ASM: This is Scouting, Scoutmaster and ASM Leader Specific Training, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills and YPT

Troop Committee Members: This is Scouting, Troop Committee Challenge and YPT.

Venturing Crew Advisors, Assistant Advisors and Committee Members: This is Scouting, Venturing Leader Specific Training and YPT.

Charter Organization Representatives: This is Scouting, Charter Organization Representative Training, and YPT.

Merit Badge Counselor: YPT and merit badge counselor training.
