Dear Scouter,

            The first Wood Badge course was presented in England by Baden-Powell in 1919 as a means of strengthening and preserving the Scouting movement throughout the world.

            Wood Badge for the 21^st Century is intended to provide leadership skills needed in all phases of the Scouting program (Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing, and Varsity). The course is a comprehensive presentation of leadership skills, organizational tools, and participatory activities based on the best of Scouting traditions and the latest in team development theory.

            This course, offered by the Chief Okemos and Great Sauk Trails Councils, is considered by many Scouters to be the mountaintop experience of their Scouting careers.  It has served as a source of training and inspiration to thousands.  In return, Wood Badge participants have positively affected the lives of millions of America’s youth.
